Pocopico, a 4-month old kitten, arrived February 20, 2025. He was hit by a car and survived but ended up with a broken jaw and brain injury which caused blindness and unsteadiness. On top of that he was also suffering from respiratory disease. His prognosis was not good.

We sent him to vets in the nearby island of Naxos who examined him. They tried to put his jaw back to its correct position but the fracture had started to set so it couldn’t be perfectly positioned but at least he was able to eat. The vets also started a treatment for the blindness and the neurological issues but again due to the fact that the injuries had happened a week prior it was not clear that the treatment would do much good.

But Pocopico proved to be a fighter and after three days in intensive care he started eating by himself which was a huge first step toward recovery. In a short time later, he regained his vision and a significant part of his instability disappeared. Even better, after he finished his treatment and once he was let out to roam the room, the instability pretty much disappeared.

Pocopico is a super sweet, talkative, friendly, social, playful kitten who loves everybody and everybody loves because he is a very special creature. Due to the results of his injuries, it is not safe for him to live outside so we are looking for a home for him.
